The 2019 abilitySTRONG Parade is San Antonio’s first annual Disability Pride Celebration. This parade is a public expression of the belief that disability is a natural and beautiful part of human diversity in which people living with disabilities can take pride.
?Held on the streets of downtown San Antonio, where many parades have taken place, this event demonstrates our efforts to “develop a whole community of people with disabilities and allies who are proud to be who we are, who do not see ourselves as victims, who expect more from ourselves and those within our community, and who are committed to building an inclusive community that recognizes the dignity, humanity, and worth of all people.”
The abilitySTRONG Parade…a Disability Pride Celebration will tell the story of inclusion and strengthas we highlight the history and advancements for the disability community.

AccessAbility fest offers a gateway to resources, opportunities and recreation for individuals facing barriers to their maximum level of independence due to a physical, developmental, sensory and/or mental health challenges.
The 13th Annual AccessAbility fest will kick-off after the Inaugural abilitySTRONG Parade along the streets of downtown San Antonio and features over 170 activities and exhibitors with information, products, programs and services that promote independence and inclusion where individuals with disabilities live, work and play.
This FREE celebration includes live entertainment, activities for the whole family to enjoy, demonstrations, and food purchase options.

Caregiver Skills Training Workshops are for family caregivers to learn practical skills and receive hands-on training. Guided by health care professionals, caregivers learn how to provide everyday care for their loved ones with dementia or other chronic conditions.
This five-hour training is designed to be flexible and interactive so that caregivers get their questions addressed. Parking and a light lunch will be provided.

The DSASTX is honored to announce, for the first time ever - Whataburger as this year’s presenting sponsor of the Buddy Walk of South Texas.
In 2018, the Buddy Walk of South Texas had over 4,500 participants take part in our walk – for 2019, we expect even more! This one-mile walk is a family event that celebrates individuals with Down Syndrome while increasing awareness and inclusion. The event will include onsite activities such as music, face painting, inflatables, a train, exhibitor booths, and food trucks.
“The Buddy Walk of South Texas is an event like none other. Come join us as we celebrate Down syndrome and promote inclusion in our community. We truly believe South Texas can be a leader as an inclusive community, and this event provides us the platform we need to share our mission,” said Brooke Kearney, DSASTX Executive Director.
