January 18, 2021 – Holiday, January 28, 2021 – State Exam at Academy at 12625 Wetmore Rd. Ste. 436 (Bld. 4), San Antonio, TX 78247
Students are required to take the TABE test prior to taking the course. Please call 210-362-5291 to schedule the test. Agencies are required to provide an L2, L3, and a “Letters of Good Standing” to be accepted to the AACOG Law Enforcement Academy Basic Corrections Licensing Course.
The 120-hour course is designed to meet training and licensing requirements set by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) necessary to prepare participants to receive their TCOLE Basic Jailer’s License. The course is designed to train jailers to work successfully and effectively in a jail correctional setting. The training will include an array of topics in an effort to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively carry out their duties and maintain control within a jail environment including basic self-defense and inmate handling techniques. Some of the course topics include booking procedures, classification of inmates, emergency procedures, facility security, inmate rights, inmate health, inmate transportation, investigations, legal aspects of use of force, report writing, searches, and suicide screening and prevention.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be eligible to test for the TCOLE Basic Jailer Licensing Examination at the Alamo Area Regional Law Enforcement Academy (AARLEA), San Antonio, Texas.
